The University of Georgia American Choral Directors Association (UGACDA) is a student-led chapter of the American Choral Directors Association that supports the activities and concerts of the University of Georgia Choirs, promotes excellence in the field of choral music, and advances the professional aspirations of its individual members. The seven member choirs of UGACDA include the UGA Hodgson Singers, University Chorus, Men's Glee Club, Women's Glee Club, Repertory Singers, Collegium Musicum, and the African American Choral Ensemble.
UGACDA represents every member in each of the seven ensembles it supports. This membership allows for participation in any international trips hosted by the organization, access to the pictures and media collected by the organization, attendance to any discussion or seminars hosted by the organization, and enlistment of the organization's support in any musical activities consistent with UGACDA's mission statement. In addition, members of UGACDA can seek enrollment with the American Choral Directors Association. This membership allows you to receive the national benefits from ACDA in addition to the regular benefits of membership with the UGA Choral Association.
One of UGACDA's signature services to the choral area involves inviting noted guest artists to UGA to serve as distinguished guest clinicians for the annual Joy of Singing Festival at the Hodgson School of Music. In the spirit of cross-cultural awareness and the University's commitment to international education, UGACDA also organizes biannual trips to various countries in the hopes of furthering its members' academic development and exposure to multicultural music.
UGACDA seeks to promote musicianship and artistic performance of the highest caliber. We encourage any students or community members interested in joining UGACDA to contact Dr. Bara or any of its current members.
